    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Nocturbulous Records and n9 Join forces to release this insanely limited 10" vinyl edition of this homage to the late Maxximum Radio and "Boy, Paris" club. Both were incredibly influential on the French Techno and House scene in the Early 90', and both were sacrified in 1992 to some political or economical dark schemes.

    ----------------------------------

On the A-side, Jean Bruce delivers a delicious old school track gathering all the audio memes and trademark sounds that were played on the Maximum frequency, either original and faithful.

On the AA-side, Number Nine offers a carefully re-created snapshot of Marco's wonderful skills at mixing killer tracks to create a brand new and unique one. Here, it is one of his most fantastic ones, blending Liaisons D.'s Faces Of Horror" Instrumental, Klangwerk's "Klangwerk" and Neon's "Sexuality ».

This later track has a very special history behind :
While House and New Beat had their time in 1988 with famous places like Moulin Rouge's discothèque "La Locomotive" (DJ Laurent Garnier and Erik Rug), and a few parties at veteran club "Le Palace", the Paris scene was losing momentum in early 1988, as the worldwide scene shifted from US-UK domination that Parisian were classical focusing their attention, to a more European-centric sound coming from Belgium.

As New Beat was becoming Hard Beat and then heading toward a faster blend of Techno-house, the "Boy, Paris" club suddenly stopped being just a Parisian version of London's BOY club to became the place where Techno and House addicts were running to.

It was because of many things, but certainly mostly because of its DJ, Marco, who was bringing to Paris the sound of Belgium (Ghent, Brussel or Antwerp scene to name a few). With his personal connections, he was on the forefront of anything interesting, and had the crowd literally yelling every night to his way of bringing tracks into each other. Mixing with 3 decks, he was constantly playing with tracks and anthemic sounds, mish-mashing them to create fantastic moments.

One of these trademark mixes was so powerful that it marked all people who have been there : suddenly, all the lights were going out, and you could hear the reverbed Beat of Liaisons D.'s "Faces of Horror" instrumental pounding gloomily, mixed with Klangwerk's "Klangwerk". People started yelliing, repeating the ominous sample "Klangwerk"! The two tracks matched beautifully into one hell off a song, and just when you thought Marco nailed it, he started adding in "Sexuality" by Neon (Target records) and Blake Baxter's Original Version. Not to mention samples from other club anthem of the time ("Acid Drill" by Edward & Armani") for example.

This incredible mix was a track of its own, that fans caught on tape via a party that was aired on the Maximum Radio in October 1989. After having it resonating in his memory for 30 years, and wanting to pay the deserved tribute to what Marco did for the movement, Number Nine decided to bring it to life again, rebuilding it entirely from scratch, and using modern technology to blend it even further into a complete track.

Enjoy this piece of history, a turning point in French House story, and jump back then, in winter 1989, sweating on the dancefloor of the most seminal French Techno club ever !

And if anyone can point us to where is Marco now, we would love to know : he suddenly disappeared in early 1992, being replaced by Laurent « Brainwasher" Mayer, before the club was finally closed by authorities in 1992.
